LANSING, Mich. (WILX) — Your credit score is usually slightly different depending on where you check it, but it should generally be within the same range.
Monitoring your portfolio: Myths about your credit score
So if you use the same banking app over and over again to check your score and you notice your score suddenly dropping, you should be alarmed.
According to Sara Rathner, personal finance expert at Nerdwallet, this is a sign that things are not going well.
“You need to go in and fix errors on your credit report,” Rathner said. “Maybe pay a bill you missed the deadline for or even check in and see if there may be some kind of identity theft going on.”
If you notice a drop in your score, you can check your credit report to make sure there is no identity theft. If you notice a problem, dispute it immediately with the credit bureaus and call the credit card company involved.
And there are many places where you can check your credit score, many banks and credit card companies now offer this feature for free in their apps.
